Terms of use
The deal between you and us when you plan with Online Wedding Invitation in New Zealand, written to be read rather than skimmed.
Last updated 21 October 2026
Using the site
These terms cover onlineweddinginvitation.nz: the dashboard, the wedding websites we host, and the invite and RSVP pages your guests see. Signing up means you accept them and our privacy policy. Account holders must be at least 18; guests replying to an invite don’t need an account at all.
Looking after your login
Choose a strong password, don’t share it, and let us know quickly if something looks off. Your account is tied to our New Zealand site; weddings across the Tasman are planned on onlineweddinginvitation.au.
What it costs
During early access it’s free. Paid plans, when they launch, are a one-off payment per wedding in New Zealand dollars with 15% GST included, listed on our pricing page. No monthly fees and no auto-renewal.
Before paid plans start, we’ll email early-access couples to explain what changes for them.
Consumer Guarantees Act and Fair Trading Act
If you use our service as a consumer, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 guarantees it will be carried out with reasonable care and skill and be fit for its purpose, and the Fair Trading Act 1986 protects you from misleading claims. These terms don’t take those rights away.
If you’re using the service in trade, as a wedding planner or venue say, you agree the Consumer Guarantees Act doesn’t apply, as far as the law allows.
A full refund policy will be added here before payments open.
What you make is yours
Your site’s words, photos and guest list belong to you. So we can run the service, you let us store, back up and display that content to the people you share your site with, and make technical copies such as smaller versions of photos. Delete it and that permission ends.
Upload only what you have the right to share, and check whānau and friends are comfortable appearing in photos online.
Your guest list and invites
You’re in charge of who is on your list and what they receive. Only add people you are actually inviting, keep their details to wedding business, and don’t use our sending tools for advertising: under the Unsolicited Electronic Messages Act 2007, commercial messages need the recipient’s consent.
Please don’t
- use the service for anything unlawful, or to infringe someone else’s rights
- harass, threaten or mislead anyone
- send messages to people who haven’t been invited
- try to get at other people’s accounts or data, or upload anything harmful
- scrape the site or swamp it with automated requests
If an account does any of this we may remove content or suspend it, and we’ll usually explain why first.
Your site after the wedding
Sites stay up for at least 12 months after the wedding date, and longer on some paid plans. We’ll email you before a site comes down, so there’s time to save what you need.
Limits
We take care with the service, but websites can go down and emails can arrive late or land in spam, so please keep your own copy of anything vital, like an exported guest list in the final weeks.
Except for your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act and other laws that can’t be excluded, we’re not responsible for losses we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen, or for events outside our control.
Closing an account
Email us whenever you’d like your account deleted. We can close accounts that seriously or repeatedly break these terms.
Should we ever wind the service down, you’ll get at least 30 days’ warning to export your details, and a refund for whatever is left of a paid plan.
If these terms change
We’ll update the date at the top. Changes that affect you are emailed to account holders at least 14 days before they apply.
Law and contact
New Zealand law governs these terms, and New Zealand courts, including the Disputes Tribunal for smaller claims, can hear any dispute. Questions: hello@onlineweddinginvitation.nz.
